Body recomposition refers to the simultaneous loss of fat and gain of muscle mass. This process differs from traditional weight loss, which often strips away both fat and lean tissue. A doctor-backed approach focuses on three core elements: resistance training, adequate protein intake, and a modest caloric deficit.
Resistance training forms the foundation. Lifting weights or using resistance bands signals your muscles to grow even during a caloric deficit. This preserves existing muscle while encouraging new growth. The key involves consistency rather than intensity. Three to four sessions weekly targeting major muscle groups produces better results than sporadic intense workouts.
Protein becomes non-negotiable. The body requires sufficient amino acids to build and repair muscle tissue.
