The explosive growth of artificial intelligence infrastructure carries an overlooked consequence. The warning comes as tech companies race to build massive data center campuses to support AI applications. These facilities demand enormous amounts of electricity. The power plants that supply them, predominantly fueled by natural gas, emit nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, and other pollutants that degrade air quality and trigger respiratory and cardiovascular disease.
