When people become hyper-focused on getting the "right" amount of sleep or hitting specific sleep metrics, they paradoxically create stress that disrupts sleep quality. This phenomenon has roots in cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia, where therapists recognize that anxiety about sleep perpetuates sleep problems.
